The role of Chilean Woman.

Over the years the role of the women as too many others aspects have changed.
Chile the country almost at the end of the world has lived some important changes according to the role of the woman.
At the beginning of the twenty century this role started to change, women were little by little getting into the world of the work and in the 1949 women were allowed to vote.
Although no everything was as simple as giving the right to vote, because Chilean society were still chauvinistic, people thought women were just able to be the housekeeper, and their worries were their chlidren and all domestic things. So this change of pushing women into almost the globalazation  had to be slow. Just with the pass of the years Chilean men started to see normally their wives out of their homes.  And one of the main reasons of this change was the men participation on the Second Mundial War; it meant that the women had to work for economical reasons and also take care of their homes and children.
Nowadays mostly of women cases are so far away from taking completely care about keeping the cleaning or just be all day long at home, even when this could affect their marital situation.
In addition in the 2005 Chile lived an important change in terms of politics. The first woman arrives at the government as president of the Nation, this situation pushed woman to create new options to their lives and also value this capacities at the moment of getting jobs. It also had a global impact, because we were still used to see just men controlling everything.
So nowadays our society is prepared for seeing Chilean woman as a multifunctional entity, good at working, at taking care of their children, and home obligations are also in some casesa shared work with their husbands. Of course mostly of the cases are of this way, however are still too many other who think in a chauvanistic way.

  3. I strongly believe that when the first woman as a president became a president, it was the beginning of a completely new change in Chile. I think women started to believe more in theirselves than before, because an ordinary women gave them or gave us, the hope that we could and actually, we can do whatever we want, because she is just the perfect model that women need and that we do have. She made an important change not just at a national level but at a deep level in ourselves too, giving us the strenght to believe in ourselves.

  5. I believe that when Michelle Bachellet became the first women as a president it started a new era.
The country started to change in a good way. People started to do things and believe in different things, specially women wanted to be part of this society more than ever, to take part in politics, be equal as men were. Have the same rights as men.
All this things could be possible thanks to her, for her courage, to fight for the women's right, for the equiality between men and women.

  6. I think that it was a very great step for all the countries when Bachellet became president. It was an oportunity for women to believe they were able to do whatever thwy wanted, even to be president. After Bachellet, in other countries women were selected in order to be president. Felipe.

  7. Nowadays some women are still treated different than men specially in jobs. There are men than have the same position that women have but they earn more, that's very unfair. We still have many things to change. Hernán Olivares

  8. If we want to change the chauvanistic way of thinking of this country, we need to insert it to our children. Because even though we have already had a woman president, it still doesn't change the mentality of Chilean men, unfortunately. Irina

  11. Michelle Bachelet has been, for women, an important influence in America Latina. She changed the politics' mind.
Since she was the president of our country, important women have been postulated to the presidency, as Cristina Fernandez in Argentina, and Dilma Rousseff in Brazil.

  14. The woman's rights have changed all over the world and Chile is not the exception. This started a while ago but, it was when Michelle Bachelet reached the presidency that we could see a lot more. She was the first woman being a president in South America and I think thanks to that, other South American countries started having women as presidents.
Even though Michelle Bachelet's period already passed, we will start getting more changes because she marked the starting point of equality for men and women.

  20. I THINK THAT THE SITUATION OF WOMEN HAS IMPROVED BEFORE A WOMAN DIDN'T HAVE ANY KIND OF RIGHT AND NOW WOMEN ARE AT THE SAME LEVEL TO MEN EVEN WE HAD THE FIRST PRESIDENT WHO WAS A WOMEN THAT 'S A VERY GOOD REASON TO BE PROUD OF BEING CHILEAN WOMEN

  21. I think that chilean women should feel proud. They have improved a lot in this society, taking in mind about other societies where women can do nothing. Although there are some men who still are knuckleheads.

  24. I think Chile is one of the countries where women rights are respected because there are a lot of oportunities for women to work and be part of the culture, politics, eduacation, etc. Sometimes there is discrimination between men and women but not in all the cases. I hope equality will raise in time. Carla Azocar

  26. I believe that the women's role in chile has been too important for the people. To know that today women can work in any job, can study at any University, try to reach anything they want, It has made us, as a society, Persons with a new conscious about humans being; no matter what gender you belong.
It's important how the country respect women now; even if a few per cent do not do it. I change my mind about it.

  30. Fortunately chilean culture is quite different from that of the mentioned countries about women's rights. We live in a society where women have the same opportunities as men in many aspects but there are yet some situations to overcome, there are still persons that believe that man are more important than women, but they are the least. Viva chile mier...
